To clean a very dirty gun barrel, use bore foam and then rinse (neutralize) it with Gun Cleaner or Care Spray. To remove any remaining dirt and dry the barrel, use a Bore Snake (in case you don't have a cleaning rod and brushes with you). At least 3 passes (pulling the bore snake through the barrel 3 times) are needed to achieve satisfactory results. RifleCX bore snakes are characterized by the ability to connect (screw) both ends together, creating a closed loop, thus ensuring that the bore snake can be pulled through the barrel multiple times in a loop. The bore snake should always be inserted from the chamber end and pulled in the direction of bullet flight. You should try to pull the bore snake parallel to the barrel; pulling it at an angle can damage the barrel crown (muzzle). A 12GA bore snake can also clean chokes.
